Medicare Advantage plans offer everything traditional Medicare coverage does, and more. Additional plan benefits are subject to availability, but may include prescription, vision, hearing, and dental coverages!
Original Medicare includes Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Part B (Medical Insurance). Medicare Advantage is a Medicare-approved plan from a private company that offers an alternative to Original Medicare. These “bundled” plans include Part A, Part B, and usually Part D. Some plans may have lower out-of-pocket costs than Original Medicare, and some plans offer benefits that Original Medicare doesn’t, like vision, hearing, dental, and more.
Generally, you may be enrolled in an employer/union/retiree health plan or a Medicare Advantage Plan, but not both. Enrolling in one cancels the other.
If you have employer coverage and sign up for a Medicare Advantage Plan thinking it’s “extra” coverage, you might be unhappy to find out it’s not and to learn you’ve lost your employer coverage. Always contact us before enrolling in any other health coverage. In most cases, when you leave an employer plan to join a Medicare Advantage Plan, you can’t go back
and re-enroll or be reinstated. If you lose your employer coverage, you need to contact Medicare quickly to preserve your rights. Call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227).
Your qualification for a Medicare Advantage plan depends on a couple of factors, including but not limited to where you live and plan availability. To learn more about your specific coverage options, please request a call with one of our licensed insurance agents today!
